Switching Between Heating and Cooling Should be Done Early

The warm summer months are coming to a close, and you feel like the cool night air might require some additional warmth in the coming days. Is it better to just leave your AC on for a few more weeks, or should you go ahead and switch to heat? Your heating and cooling system is designed to keep you comfortable all year long, but it is actually important to transition your home or office early on to prevent any major issues.

As soon as you dig out your fall coats and sweaters, the time to switch between your heating and cooling system has arrived. It is important to properly shut down your air conditioning unit by drying out the drainage systems and cleaning the unit parts. You may also want to wrap a protective cover over your unit to protect it during the winter months.

Next, you should flip the switch over to heat and listen for those clear signs that your system has turned on. One of the best reasons to turn on the heat early is because you will know if you need to address problems early on. The last thing you need is to have your heater stubbornly refuse to heat your space while you have to wear all your clothes and wait on the repair man. And, if your heating system works perfectly well, you may decide that you can adjust the temperature so it isn’t quite so warm during the day and comfortable at night until the really cold temperatures set in.

At Energy Sharks, we can help you with your transition with your heating and cooling system, or help with repairs if something unexpected comes up. Just give us a call to schedule an appointment!
