Tips for Keeping Warm While Waiting for Furnace Installation

Furnace Installation

It is no fun to realize that your furnace needs to be replaced, especially when you figure it out because you woke up to a cold house. While most furnace installation companies will work quickly to replace your furnace, it can help to have a few tips for keeping warm while you wait. It isn’t just your family’s comfort that you need to think about– cold temperatures can also be problematic for the plumbing and some furniture and fixtures. Here are some tips that can help:

Use appliances that create heat– There are several ways you can create a bit of heat in your home. Consider baking some treats in the oven and putting a load of laundry into the clothes dryer, for example. You can also plug in an electric blanket or space heater to deliver some immediate warmth.
Close your window curtains– If you have insulated curtains, now is a good time to put them to use to keep the coldness out as much as possible. If you do not have them, consider covering windows and doors with blankets.
Keep close to each other– You’ll all feel warmer if you stay together in one room with the door closed so as to let your body heat work to your benefit. Consider huddling together on the sofa with a blanket over you, for example. Choose the smallest room to gain the most from your combined body heat.
Use hot water– A hot shower or even washing your hands in hot water can help you feel warmer, at least temporarily.
